No Matter What

No Matter What

This morning in meditation I had an out-of-body experience that was so uplifting I’d like to share it with you as an offer of spiritual refreshment on the journey. I imagine it’s no mistake that it happened today as I had set aside time to write this afternoon.
Sick with a nagging cold, I had to cancel my morning reading client. There was a clear knowing, however, that I would be meditating in the hour we would have spent together.
It took a bit of time to clear my head of the cancellation, resistance to not feeling well, and other considerations. Finally I found the stillness within and was suddenly standing beside a stream of beautiful, clear water.
I was reminded that the direction the stream was flowing depended upon how you oriented your body to it. So, in a series of experiences, I was on one side of the stream, then the other, then above, then seeing the water move “forward,” then “backward,” and more, all depending on the way I perceived it.
After that was complete, I saw a being in the form of a man sitting on the other side of the stream from me. I asked if I could cross over and talk with him. He said yes and extended an arm as though to gesture the way. As I crossed the stream, it became silvery white. I sat by the man and he said, “you don’t remember me now, but we’ve been together in life.” He wore a green monk’s robe and an aura of incredible serenity. We talked for a while, and I noticed that the stream became a beam of light; white with a tint of purple. I wanted to be in the light and asked if that was ok. He said it was.
The light expanded to envelop me, and there was a moment of fear of being swept away. My companion said, “no, you are the light.” I decided to believe and noticed I did merge with the light and was able to follow it upward instead of be swept “downstream.” I followed the light “up” and suddenly experienced myself as a being of consciousness free of my sense of myself in current incarnation. That alone is an amazing sensation.
Even better; there were others there too, and we were all-one, being a joyous vibration together; being a part of, and fully aware of the consciousness that is. It was amazing and spectacular and healing and everything! I notice as I write that is was also basically indescribable, so I won’t try too hard.
After a time “in the light,” I remembered I was “me” and said to myself,  “this is so amazing, I hope I can hold it.” And, of course, in a split second I was back in my body. I had to laugh at how my doubt manifested instantly.
Eyes now open, I was drawn to pick up the book on the table in front of me (Testimony of Light, by Helen Greaves) and open to a random page. In italics, to stand out from the rest of the text was, “the purpose of life on earth is to illumine matter with Spirit.”
After tears of joy and some time to digest this gift, I stood up to approach the rest of the day. I noticed a song was stuck in my head. This happens on occasion and I started to work to release it. Someone said “No, listen to the song in your head this time.” It was a song I hardly knew, so I looked up the little snipped of lyrics that kept repeating. Here it is, by Badfinger,
No Matter What:
No matter what you are
I will always be with you
Doesn’t matter what you do girl, oh girl with you
No matter what you do
I will always be around
Won’t you tell me what you found girl, oh girl won’t you
Knock down the old brick wall, and be a part of it all
Nothing to say, nothing to see, nothing to do
If you would give me all, as I would give it to you
Nothing would be, nothing would be, nothing would be
No matter where you go
There will always be a place
Can’t you see in my face girl, oh girl won’t you
Knock down the old brick wall, and be a part of it all
Nothing to say, nothing to see, nothing to do
If you would give me all, as I would give it to you
Nothing would be, nothing would be, nothing would be
No matter what you are
I will always be with you
Doesn’t matter what you do girl, oh girl with you
